Who I am:
My name is Suzanne Raeli and I operate as a freelance translator in Geneva, Switzerland. I take the protection of your personal data very seriously. This Privacy Policy sets out the measures I use to do this. It applies to prospective, current and former clients and to suppliers of other goods and services (e.g. other translators, accountant, cloud storage provider), whether paid or unpaid, in connection with my business.
Data protection:
I treat your data as confidential in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this Privacy Policy. I will never sell or share your information.
Why I process your personal data:
I collect, store and use your personal data only to issue a quote, provide a translation or editing service that you request, for accounting or invoicing purposes, or to comply with legal requirements. I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes. Personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address and telephone number. Personal data may also include special categories such as health information, but only if you send these data to me for the specific purpose of translating them.
The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the services you request or to take necessary steps prior to fulfilling that request (Art. 6(1b) GDPR). The legal basis for processing special categories of personal data such as health information is your explicit consent for me to translate, revise or edit that information (Art. 6(1a) GDPR).
Who else receives your personal data:
If I send a text for revision or editing to a colleague, that text will be anonymised, so your personal data will not appear in it. For administrative purposes, other parties may have access to your personal data, including my accountant, my website and email hosting services, and cloud backup system. All these parties are GDPR-compliant.
How long I keep your personal data:
I do not collect more information than I need to fulfil my stated purposes (legitimate interest) and will not retain it for longer than is necessary. In the case of services rendered, I keep personal data for ten years to comply with tax obligations and for up to ten years for translation reference purposes when the personal data form part of the text itself. I delete email communications after ten years (Art. 13(2) GDPR).
Access to your personal information:
Your personal data is treated as confidential and only used for linguistic and related services. You have the right to view, amend or delete this information at any time. If you want to view, amend or delete your personal data you should contact me in my capacity as Data Protection Officer, at [email protected].
Note about cookies:
